New American University Scholar

To be a New American University Scholar means more than assistance with financing your education, it includes a unique opportunity to begin making a difference while you earn your degree.

Arizona State University is committed to helping a greater number of academically qualified students graduate than ever. Our New American University Scholar awards are offered to outstanding incoming undergraduate students as they pursue academic excellence at ASU. Many of these scholarships are renewable. This program provides qualified students with a monetary award and an environment focusing on knowledge, learning, and research plus resources toward understanding and helping solve society’s most pressing challenges.

This Scholarship is open to all Nationals.

The process to Apply for Arizona State University Scholarships/New American University Scholar

Arizona State University (ASU) considers students for merit-based scholarships once they have been admitted to ASU. If you have not yet applied to ASU, submit an application for undergraduate admission and accompanying materials (official transcripts, test scores, and application fee). Note that there are different priority dates for each scholarship.

Hope for Recovery Scholarship

The Hope for Recovery Scholarship was established in memory of Glen Swette, and his positive outlook on life and personal resilience. Mr. Swette was a friend to everyone he met, even total strangers, and there are countless stories of his generosity and unselfish concern for all. Sadly, Mr. Swette passed away in 2017 after a courageous battle with ALS.

The Hope for Recovery Scholarship is for undergraduate students at ASU who have overcome or are in the recovery stages of, a substance abuse addiction.

Sustainability Champions Scholarship

ASU attracts passionate students who want to learn how to develop solutions to some of the most pressing sustainability challenges they see in the world around them. The Sustainability Champions Scholarship is intended to help fund their ideas and education, as well as to attract and provide funding for a diverse group of scholars from around the world.

Incoming Fall 2020 School of Sustainability undergraduate students are eligible to apply. Recipients will be chosen based upon merit and/or need. Funds will be allocated in the first year for tuition and educational expenses, or tuition or development of a solution to a sustainability challenge in a future semester of the student’s undergraduate program.

Level of the study: Undergraduate

Scholarship amount: $4,000 – $5,000

Minimum GPA: Competitive

Residency: Arizona resident, Non-Arizona resident

Linda Smiley Perseverance Award

• Must be a Junior or a Senior or a graduate student pursuing a major in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences

• Must have a minimum GPA of 2.5

• Must be enrolled at least a three-fourths of full-time enrollment

• Preference will be given to a single mother
